Musa Chunge heads up the Design Automation & Configuration (DAC) team within the Technology & Innovation group at Laing O’Rourke. As a Chartered Engineer with over a decade of experience across construction and design, Musa combines deep technical expertise with a strong systems-thinking approach to transform how infrastructure is designed and delivered.
Using a DAC approach, he leads the “Digital Bridges” programme, bringing together product development, design automation, structural engineering, and solution configuration to create product-led bridges. The approach enables a substantial volume of a bridge to be manufactured off-site, installed faster with reduced on-site labour and lane closures, and delivered with shorter design timelines. The process can cut early-stage design and measurement from weeks to days and enables downstream benefits for the manufacturing and construction process. With the construction method now proven on over 20 projects, Musa is expanding the DAC approach to a wider range of complex projects and challenging constraints.
